I have Decided to Follow Jesus

“I have decided to follow Jesus,” so goes the first verse of an old hymn but the same title.  It’s a declarative statement of a decision made to take a particular path in life.  This is then followed by an affirmative statement in the chorus; “No turning back, no turning back!”  True believers are those who’ve made such decisions in their live.  We made a conscious decision to follow the path of righteousness in Christ and we’ve resolved that regardless of what may come, we will not be deterred, we will not turn back!  The Apostle Paul put it this way;  

“38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.   Heb 10:38-39 (KJV)

So, You Want to "Get Ahead in Life" ?

My Dad would often explain to me the need for an education so that I would be able to “get ahead” in life.  For many of us “getting ahead” means acquiring money, possession and property.  I have two questions for you is:  When is it enough? Ever wonder how God views our offenses inflicted on others?  You and I may consider and classify offenses as Grave, Serious, Major, Mild, Minor and Insignificant but how does God view them.  We classify them as such even if we’re the offended party but we’ve all seen a “Minor” offense have “Grave” consequences depending on a variety of details. “Minor” offences are like minor scratches and thorn pricks, they can be infected and cause great illness and even loss of life or limb.  Spiritual “wound care” is of vital importance.   Jesus teaches that we’re to avoid all offenses and when we are offended we should bring it to the offender’s attention and seek resolution.  If we offend it is then incumbent that we seek forgiveness.  Offending/Hurting one another; it’s serious business.
