The medical term “myopia” is better known to us as “nearsightedness”. Those afflicted can only see things that are close; thus, they have an inability to see things off at a distance. The sad result is that this hinders their ability to see things in their proper perspective.
We Christians are often afflicted by “Spiritual Nearsightedness” which also hinders our ability to see things in their God-ordained perspective. Sadly, this is self-imposed and limits our growth and development. Happily, God can heal us of this if we will repent, seek His forgiveness, identify God’s purpose and goals for us.
Then we can proceed as Paul teaches; “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil 3:14 (KJV)
