"Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you." Prov 9:8 (NKJV)
To have a healthy self-esteem is to have a sincere and honest appraisal of oneself. The truly wise person accepts timely, sincere and honest correction then applies the lesson learned which in turn makes him/her wiser. Not so the scoffer who rejects and laughs off correction causing the depth of his ignorance to deepen.
When faced with honest and sincere correction; what is your response?
