1 The Lord is my
shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23:1 (KJV)
Believe it or not;
this perhaps the most powerful statement of faith a Christian can make
regarding his faith. Believers place
themselves wholly in the shepherd’s hands and give up their personal likes/dislikes,
to obediently follow wherever he may lead them.
It’s about well-founded trust and confidence in his wisdom, protection,
knowledge and instruction. Christians
call this faith. Our faith is based on
God’s ability to deliver on his promises.
He is faithful and because of this we shall want for nothing. I am reminded of a little girl who
wonderfully misquoted this verse by saying “The Lord is my Shepherd; that’s all
I want.”
All or our spiritual,
emotional and physical needs will be met by God through His Son Jesus and we
will lack for nothing. We have His
promise in writing.
