1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from
whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made
heaven and earth. Psalms 121:1-2 (KJV)
To be “downcast” is to be sad or even
despondent. It literally means we’re
looking down; at our feet, at the ground or floor. Looking down while walking, running or
driving can be dangerous and makes prone to failure. Looking down not only impedes our ability to
foresee hazards and dangers but also places of safety and security. To navigate life one needs to see the full
picture and scope of life. “Followers of the Way” a.k.a. “Christians” can and
should always look up to heaven for their deliverance. The Lord Jesus said it this way: “28 And when these things begin to come to
pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
Luke 21:28 (KJV) The “things” Jesus is
speaking about is times of distress, danger, persecution and of course the end
times.
King David found that looking up to the hills,
perhaps Mt. Sinai, the “Mountain of God” and focusing on God gave him hope and
confidence. Look up my brothers and
sisters; our help also comes from our Creator and through Jesus; our Father.
